New advances in weed science are oriented towards achieving a balance between crop production and sustainability. In this sense, weed science research at the European level is informed by the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy and is increasingly focused on the integration of new tools, methods and strategies for an improved weed management. This situation could be defined by the congress motto: Joint approaches for sustainable weed management. Advances in weed science in Europe will be presented on the upcoming EWRS Symposium that will take place in Lleida (Catalonia, Spain) in 2025. This symposium has never been held in Spain, a country with an important and diversified agricultural activity and with an active weed science society. For this reason, the Local Committee formed by weed scientists from the University of Lleida, Agrotecnio Centre and with the support of colleagues from Department of Agriculture, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and CITA Aragón, are enthusiastic to celebrate this relevant event and invite all weed scientists from Europe and other countries to join us in Lleida in July 2025 and share an unforgettable week of science and friendship.
